finally…an update from me!
Whew, what a crazy couple of months it has been! I know I haven’t posted in a very long time so I wanted to catch up on what’s been happening at the studio…
I bought 10 pound leg weights for our Max Strength phase of strength training, as well as ankle wraps for using the resistance bands for legs. I also got new mats and 5 lb leg weights. I just love getting new stuff to share with ya’ll!! HHmmm, what will be next??!?
Below is Sabrina, Janie and Debbie doing Single-leg Deadlifts with the new weights…and if I remember correctly, Sabrina texted me the next day saying “I can’t move, I’m broken!”, which makes me pretty darn happy. One of my favorite questions to ask now is “are you dying?!?!” and I usually get a YES!
I surprised the girls with Tracy’s Metamorphosis DVDs last week. It’s a weird workout and can seem very awkward but it’s extremely effective in working our secondary muscles, which creates a perfect bridge to start the periodization over next month with the Stabilization phase (my fav!!).
Here is one of my newer Personal Training clients, Marcia, doing an Overhead Triceps Extension on the BOSU. While this might not look too difficult, it takes a lot of balance to stand on the BOSU alone, much less lifting and lowering a dumbbell over/behind your head! She is much stronger than I expected for such a petite person but she is hilariously challenged during coordination in TABATA so we always get a good laugh!
Speaking of new clients, I wanted to welcome Pamela to personal training and classess! Also, Lynn and Margret have joined Shelly for some private Strength Training, TABATA and PiYo classes. Below is a cute pic of Margaret punching the bag…I always enjoy torturing new clients!!
My schedule is always changing but, currently, my personal training calendar is pretty full. I might be able to squeeze in 1 or 2 personal training sessions in the morning or Saturdays but my afternoons/evenings are booked. There are usually a few spots available in classes – I’ve added a TABATA Core & Cardio on Wednesdays at 5:45pm and a Strength Training class on Saturdays at 10:45am. I know the summer is tough for many ladies to make exercise a habit but July is the perfect month to start classes if you are interested! I’d also like to welcome Laura, Kelly, Kim and Donna to the public classes!
On a personal note, I had “minor” surgery to remove a corn from my toe. It was a much harder recovery than I expected. After getting the stitches out, I could walk the block for a warm up but it was really painful. I pushed myself to walk 3 miles (twice a day) then finally did my 6 mile route, which took about 1.5-2 hours. When I could finally get a shoe on, I did walking/running intervals and am now able to run every day.
Here is the toe today, it’s still swollen and a bit painful. I did gain 5.8 pounds but I’ve just about gotten back down to my normal 140.
I rewarded myself with new kicks (ok, 3 new pairs) and a new tank for my emotion and physical pain. It says it’s not swagger, I’m just sore lol
I also renewed my personal training certification…it’s been 8 1/2 years! I truly love what I do and couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
Here is Juliana pushing 30lb dumbbells doing Chest Presses during her Max Strength training. That is currently my heaviest weights but I’ll have to get some 35s soon! And, yes, it is much harder to balance on a ball using 2 weights (and you use so many more muscles) rather than being stabilized on a bench using a barbell.
Well, that about wraps it up!! I’m so busy but I will do my best to post more often…I can’t wait to share Jeanie’s 70 + pound weight loss pix!!!
